LDF face LCS and Lioli travel to Liphakoe in rescheduled league games

Midweek action: LCS take on LDF while Lioli face Liphakoe...

Two rescheduled Vodacom Premier League games will be played on Wednesday afternoon. LDF will play LCS at Ratjomose at 16:00. The match was originally scheduled to be played on February 12 by was washed off because of heavy rain.

The game is the second meeting between the sides in a matter of days after their LNIG Top 8 quarterfinal clash last Saturday.

On that occasion LCS ran out 1-0 winners to progress to the semi-finals of the competition.

There will be plenty at stake for both teams in this one as well.

LDF are ninth in the league and desperately need all three pints to close the gap to eighth place. Sohle-Sohle are currently six points behind eighth-placed Sundawana. Failure to finish in the top eight would mark the first time LDF fail to achieve a top eight place in club history.

Masheshena’s need for three points is not as desperate seeing as they are out of the title race and would still fancy their chances of keeping hold of their fourth-place position ahead of the chasing pack. Nevertheless, a win wouldn’t hurt for LCS as they look to keep arm’s length of Sky Battalion in fifth place. Masheshena are fourth with 31 points from 17 games. SK are fifth, a point behind, having played 18 games.

The day’s other game involves champions Lioli who travel to Quthing to face resurgent Liphakoe. Liphakoe are unbeaten in 2017 since hiring Motebang Makhetha as coach winning two of three games under his stewardship. Thanks to their resurgence the Quthing have given themselves an outside chance of finishing in the top eight. Currently, Liphakoe are 10th with 19 points. They are six points adrift of eight-placed Sundawana but have played two games less.

For champions Lioli the game is a must-win. It is a rescheduled fixture from February 11 which was moved because of Tse Nala’s participation in the CAF Champions League.

Lioli are third in the standings with 35 points. They are five points behind leaders Bantu but have two games in hand. Wins in both games would see Tse Nala back on top of the Vodacom Premier League with just a third of the season left to play.
