Tšepo Hlojeng resigns as Likhopo coach

will have another new coach
Tšepo Hlojeng has resigned as coach of Vodacom Premier League side Likhopo. Hlojeng becomes the latest coach to leave their post in the top-flight this season. Earlier this month Motlatsi Shale resigned from Linare while Sidwell Mothea was sacked by Sundawana shortly afterwards. Hlojeng, who only took charge in August, had been under pressure following Likhopo’s slow start to the season which saw the Red Army win just once in their opening seven games.

The final straw was Likhopo’s 2-0 loss to Sundawana on Saturday. The result coupled with results elsewhere at the weekend saw Likhopo drop into the relegation zone with just four points from eight games.

Hlojeng leaves with a record of one win, one draw and six losses in eight games. His departure continues a chaotic year for Likhopo.

In May, the Red Army sacked their previous coach Shalane Lehohla just before the end of last season. The upheaval continued in the off-season when four senior players – Bokang Mothoana, Sefoli Ntoi, Nyakhane Nyakhane and Tefo Maipato – had their contracts terminated in an unexpected squad shake-up.

On the field Likhopo have suffered as result. Likhopo have played 21 league matches in the 2016 calendar year. They have won just five and lost 10.

Tšeliso Mofolo will take charge of the team on a temporary basis.
