Lesotho Trivia: Ntšonyana holds Cosafa Cup record

Record holder... Teele Ntšonyana
Did you know? Teele Ntšonyana is Lesotho’s all-time top scorer at the COSAFA Castle Cup?

Ntšonyana struck three goals for Likuena in the competition. His first was the winner in a 1-0 victory over Namibia on 7 February, 1999 at Setsoto Stadium. His second strike was perhaps his most famous, a stunning long range equaliser in Lesotho’s 2-1 win over Angola in the 2000 semi-finals.

Ntšonyana also struck against Zambia in 2001, a 2-1 defeat at Setsoto, the only time he wasn’t on the winning side when he scored.

Lesotho’s second top scorer in the competition is Ralekoti Mokhahlane with two goals. Both his goals came in the 2013 tournament where Lesotho reached the semis, and both were at the same venue: Kitwe, Zambia.

Mokhahlane scored from the penalty spot in group games against Kenya (2-2) and Botswana (3-3).

Teele Ntšonyana’s Cosafa Goals:
Lesotho 1-0 Namibia (07-02-1999)
Lesotho 2-1 Angola (23-07-2000)
Lesotho 1-2 Zambia (24-06-2001)
