Good weekend for LDF

It was a good weekend for Vodacom Premier League leaders LDF even though they weren’t in action. LDF’s Rivals LCS dropped three points meaning Sohle-Sohle maintained a five-point lead at the top of the league after seven games played.

LCS had the chance to move to within three points of LDF, but they were shocked 1-0 at home by newly-promoted Likila on Saturday. It means Masheshena remain third with 13 points, one behind defending champions Bantu and a further six behind LDF.
Contrasting weekend fortunes for Matlama and Lioli
In another of the weekend’s games, Lioli bounced back from an always painful defeat to Matlama with a hard-fought 2-1 over Nyenye Rovers in St Monica’s on Saturday. Lioli’s goals came courtesy of Bafokeng Mosala and Tšepo Seturumane’s second half penalty.

Meanwhile, Matlama were not able to build on their success over Lioli going down 1-0 away to Sundawana. The result continues Matlama’s frustratingly inconsistent season. Tse Putsoa are fifth with three wins, three draws and two losses from their opening eight games.

The only other scheduled fixture for the weekend was Qoaling Highlanders versus Likhopo however was the match was halted because of heavy rains. Likhopo were leading 2-0 when play was stopped.

This weekend had been set aside as a catch-up weekend and normal league service will resume next week with the biggest game being Lioli’s clash against LDF’s on Sunday.

Nyenye Rovers 1-2 Lioli
LCS 0-1 Likila United
Sunday, 26 October
