The Lesotho Premier League will welcome a first time debutant when the 2011/12 season kicks off in September.
Little-known Mpharane Celtics will be playing host to giants Matlama, Lioli and LCS next season after clinching promotion at the weekend thanks to a 3-0 win over Butha-Buthe Fast XI in Butha-Buthe.
A point would have been enough for the Leribe outfit to win the A-Division Northern Stream but captain Moeketsi Mofokeng, Janki Mokoetle and Makoanyane XI international Lebajoa Mosehlanyane made sure Celtics secured promotion in style.
Celtics now have 41 points and an unassailable six point lead over second-placed Sefothafotha going into the weekend's last round of matches. Last year Celtics agonisingly lost out to Maduma on goal difference; 13 wins in 17 matches this term have guaranteed premiership football for the first time in the club’s history.
They will join southern stream champions Majantja in the Vodacom Premier League.
Celtics coach Freeze Ntene paid tribute to the club’s owner Monesa Mpotulle, the players and the fans. He said their final match of the season on Sunday against Nyenye Rovers in Maputsoe will be a celebration.
“We are going to have a party,” Ntene said. “You are invited to come.”
